NUTLEY WINDMILL open  afternoons from 14.00 to 17.00 The last open-trestle mill in Sussex and one of only five surviving in the country. A fine example of a medieval style mill, Nutley windmill is thought to be 300 years old.  

The mill has open afternoons (dates to the left) and is open during school holidays from 10.00 to 16.00 on 4, 14 April; 2 June; 28 July; 4, 11, 18 & 25 August and 1 & 8 September.

Four artists experience the Forest magic
All artists see things differently and they become even more diverse when mediums and techniques differ.  One artists crafts her work using drawing, watercolour and printing. Another uses photographs. Two study some of the animals that roam the Forest reading the subjects in dramatically differing ways.

A gathering of England's finest coppice craftsmen from six counties.  This is your opportunity to enjoy an insight into the fascinating world of making traditional products from our coppiced woodlands. Many of the tutors  still make their living from producing these products and all of them have gathered this week to teach their skills to others.  Come and watch, or sign up and learn how to do it.  Click on the title to the left for more information

Bird Walk for children and beginners at Old Lodge Come and take a bird walk on the Forest with one of our Centre volunteers (a member of the Ashdown Forest Bird Group). The walk is about an hour long and is aimed at both children and beginners. Please bring a pair of binoculars. There is a small charge of £1.00 per child and £2.00 per adult payable to the walk leader. No unaccompanied children please. LUCIUS DECIUS
Legionary of the VI Legion
Come and meet Lucius Decius Legionary of the VI Legion at the Forest Centre and have a go at various Roman activities such as testing your skills as an auxilliary archer; laying out a  road or a barrack block using a groma; decorate a shield and have a go at drilling and marching in a cohort.  

£2.50 per person and each child will receive a certificate and bag of coins.

Daily 10 to 16.00 at Ward Homes Exhibition of Photographs by Dave Brooker Dave Brooker had a very successful exhibition here at the Forest Centre.  His work is now on display as part of Uckfield Festival Art Trail at Ward Homes, Ashdown Place, Cobdown Lane, Uckfield, TN22 3AP

Annual Public Meeting An annual meeting open to all Forest residents.  There will be a short talk by Dr Hew Prendergast, the the Forest Superintendent. Meet at the Education Barn at the Forest Centre at 7.30.  Tea and Coffee available.
